I took a trip to Taiwan and all i got was this lousy durian.

During the summer of 1999 I went on the Overseas Chinese Youth Language Training And Study Tour to the Republic of China in Taiwan.  The trip is known by many Chineese Americans as "The Love Boat,"  since a good number of us crazy Chineese college kids find their life long companion.

Taiwan-Land of three storie McDonald's, where "Odidos" and "DNKY" brand clothing are all the rage.  It's a place where you can buy a squid on a stick for only 100NT.  Ah yes... paradise.

This was a wonderful experience, and I sincerely reccommend going if you're eligible.  Though the accomadations, weather, and being away from home for so long wasn't always fun... meeting such a large variety of people from around the world was well worth those minor discomforts.

Did you know that the legal drinking age in Taiwan is 18?  Lots of Karyoking and Clubbing was to be had during my free time.

Taiwan has a lot of national parks n' army bases, and beaches.  I do believe we got to visit just about every one along our 9 day trip around the island.

No... that's not a super-model... that's Sandy.  Lots of girls take Glamore shots while in Taiwan, 'cause it's so inexpensive, and the service is so much better than what can be found in the States.

After the 5 weeks of "studying" about my cultural heritage, I took an extra 4 days to go to Hong Kong.  I went there on my own, carrying around more than 40 kilograms worth of luggage.  I've never had such a feeling of independence before, and I was determined to use this time the best I could.

What an unforgetable trip.  I've never really traveled before, but after this... I think I'd like to visit Europe one day.
